Romantic Typeface Poster

This poster design is based on the category of Romantic typefaces. The type classification includes fonts that have vertical axis, abrupt and thin serifs, rounded terminals, and high contrast. The overarching vision for this project was to focus on the physical aspects of the typeface, the ideas of progress and order that were occurring historically, as well as the current use of romantic typefaces in luxury branding. Grids were created by a central axis and the gridlines pulled from the letter S shapes that are the main structure of the composition. The information is placed along the curves of the letters reinforcing the flow of the composition. The progress and creative invention theme underlying the work is reinforced through the movement and curves of the lettering. Overall, the composition’s underlying themes are not immediately decipherable, however there is still a sense of intrigue and interest that encourages the viewer to engage with the poster and take in the information provided about romantic typefaces.
